No, really. We have all contemplated fashion risks…perhaps a pair of mangled LiLo leggings or a Miley Cyrus/Max Azria get-up from Walmart. But the harem pant has excelled beyond a fashion risk and borders fashion suicide. The only place these pants belong, are on a magic carpet ride.

The Body Shop – Rediscovered!

I am SO thrilled that I have rediscovered the gloriousness of The Body Shop. Prior to last week, it had been over a decade since I stepped foot into the store! The last thing I remember buying from there was in my early middle school days, around age 11. It was the lip scuff! This really makes me laugh, because what 11 year old is worried about exfoliating her lips?! Ha ha. Of course, yours truly!! Anyways, around that time was the massive birth of Bath & Body Works, and for me (along with a ton of other Body Shop goers), we made the transition to B&BW not only because it was a ‘new’ endeavor, but because they were popping up everywhere and so easily accessible. Now, it’s not even that I love B&BW that much, nor do I make regular purchases there, however its sheer existence caused me to forget about The Body Shop for over ten years! One reason could be how UN-accessible The Body Shop is to me and my shopping demographic. To this day, in the city of Pittsburgh and the surrounding cities, there are only THREE The Body Shops. One is 30 minutes for me, the other is 1 hour from me, and the other is 1.5 hours from me. Not too bad, but…you get the point. Well, let me get on with it.

As I was reading one of my favorite beauty blogs (Belle Du Jour), she had done a review on a Body Shop lip balm. Usually after her reviews, I speed to the nearest merchant and purchase whatever she writes about–hence, what rekindled my love affair with The Body Shop after a long 10+ years of break-up. It was then that I was reminded of how delicious it is to walk into the store, and feel great about your purchases due to their stance on eco-friendliness, charities, and naturally safe products. Over the past week, I have made several purchases, all of which I am beyond happy with. Since this post is already a short novel, stay tuned for my purchases and quick reviews on each! Oh, and if you haven’t been there for a while (like myself), I urge you to go!! You will be pleasantly surprised–and you can smell the goodness that the store radiates before you even enter. Muah.

Hi beautiful blog readers! So, today I shopped–hard. I shopped because it is what I love to do. I shopped because I have had a hell of a bad week. I have shopped because I am stressed, and sad. I shopped because I am addicted to the temporary high that shopping so beautifully provides me with. Now that being said, instead of the usual happiness I’m usually bubbling with following a massive shopping spree–this one ended in tears. The story goes like this (in a quick nutshell): I made purchases of two Smashbox palettes I have been wanting that were sold out at Ulta. Additionally, I purchased a second Korres Lip Butter…because my first is being used at rapid speeds. I did feel semi ‘shoppers-remorse’ after purchasing these things, but I went with it. Anyways, when I got home I realized that my MU bag was not with all the others. I had set all of my bags down two times since purchasing. Once at another makeup counter and then once more when using the restroom. The bag was not in the car, which meant it either fell out of my hand in the department store I was in last, or I had not picked it up along with the others one of the two times I set them all down. Either way, it was most likely left in the department store one way or another. When I called to see if anyone had turned in a bag, Customer Service said no. I called to all of the counters asking if they could look around….but still no luck. This most likely means someone found my bag, loved the contents, and rolled. Now I am not being presumptuous because perhaps I will get a call tomorrow saying it was found–but that is highly unlikely. Don’t you agree? What I don’t understand is how a stranger could steal like that from someone else. I have NEVER been one to steal even a piece of candy! My conscience simply does not allow such antics. Truly, I just find it so disheartening that someone could make someone else’s possessions their own and go about the day like nothing is wrong. I am feeling sad and bitter, not necessarily for the loss of the makeup or money…but more-so because I hate being reminded how simply cruel people can be. I know this may seem petty to some–but honestly, it is just the principle that bothers me the most. People get stolen from everyday, and that is so sad, because no matter how minor the item may be, the loss of it still leaves a bitter taste in your mouth and a sick feeling in your tummy. The majority of us work so hard for our money, and look forward to the things we choose to spend it on. I just hope whoever has my palettes and lip butter at least loves and appreciates them as much as I would have. Oh, and hopefully they feel at least a tinge of guilt for the money they have stolen from me and the couple of fat tears they caused to roll out of my eyes, down my cheeks, and smudge all of my makeup!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and next time you find something that is tempting to keep–but simply isn’t yours…please do the right thing! It really pays to be a good person who exhibits honesty and loving-kindness to your fellow human beans. Yep! I said beans. Karma, people. It’s all about the good karma. Kisses.

Sleeping beauty…

Hello lovlies! I despise how my posts are so few and far between. I am really trying to get used to this new job, and in all of my spare time, I am absolutely exhausted. I mean literally I become delirious from exhaustion! Last week I traveled to Ohio for three days. I actually commuted back and forth each day, and so I racked up a ton of driving milage! I didn’t mind though because I put on my audiobook and cruised. It was nice ‘me-time’. Aside from that I have been starting my work day at 5 am a few days a week. To me, waking up at 4 am is just all wrong! One of the days I put far too much eyeshadow on, and had no idea because I was still half-asleep while doing so! Yesterday was my day off. I spent part of the morning taking pictures of recent hauls and purchases, uploaded the pictures, and then……slept the remainder of the day. Well, alternated sleep with catching up on Season 2 of Mad Men (such a glorious show)! That era is so incredible to me. Just breathtaking. The fashion is immaculate, the women are so poised yet so risque all at once, and the men are just pompous jerks…but very ‘dapper’ as you might call it. I love it! Anyways, I have a TON of new gorgeous makeup and skincare due to recent loss of self control, and so I’m hoping that the gods of energy are smiling down on me this upcoming week so that I can share everything with all of you! I also hope you are all finding time in your busy schedules to pamper yourselves with little treats of beauty and happiness! Keep smiling….(even if your eyes are fluttering, falling asleep doing so)…like me! Haha. Big, glossy lipped kisses.

Review: L’OREAL TELESCOPIC

So. I have always been a horribly die-hard fan of Lancome mascara. I have searched far and wide for something to hold a candle to the classic Definicils & dramatic Hypnose. But–nothing ever does. EVER. Recently, I had heard Telescopic mentioned. Usually, I do not even bat a lash at drugstore mascaras. I suppose I am a mascara snob, if you will. However, I had a credit-voucher to Walgreens and I really cared for nothing in there but a random hair product and some DS makeup. Being that I had recently heard a rave about Telescopic, I decided to give it a go. I must say, I was pleasantly suprised!

The packaging, as you can see, is very chic and aerodynamic-which I love. I have to admit that when I revealed the wand, I was upset because the ‘brush’ is made from that rubbery/plastic material they are making them with these days…which I have had less than stellar experience with. However, it is not a single plastic comb, like you might be thinking. It is a square shape with each edge of the square being teethed. Very inventive! The formula is not clumpy at all…and with two or three (or four because I’m crazy) coats–this mascara is a winner. My eyelashes naturally curl with it on, and are lengthened dramatically. I have had several people ask if I was wearing falsies and what I use to curl my lashes! (In which I replied, nope & nothing at all!)

Moral of the story–shame on me for breezing past the druggy mascaras with my nose in the air. I have a new found respect for them, and now I am so excited to dabble in a few other L’OREAL mascaras! Cheers to cheap & effective make-up! Have a fun and beautiful day!!
